The cover on this one is in a nice thick, very soft, black pebble grain split-calf with a red split-calf liner. It is Edge-lined with four ribbons – two black and two red. This hardback conversion took a little work – all three edges of the book block were sanded down smooth and red art gilding was applied. Handmade matching marbled end-sheets were added. It was given a hot press perimeter line and the spine was given standard raised tubs and hot foil stamping in gold, and custom leather head and tail bands.
I ordered this 1999 In Touch Hardcover and sent it to Mark Colley for a rebind. After sending him all the details and specifics in regards to skin choices and colour scheme, Mark got right to work and created this masterpiece for me. He used a black calf-split for the cover with red calf-split liner. The cover is incredibly soft and thankfully thick as it’s a big book block. He added four wide ribbons (two red, two black) along with amazing, hand-made marbled end pages. He dyed the page edges red and to go perfectly with the liner. He gold foil stamped the spine with everything I ask for and really made a beautiful edition that I’m the proud owner of. Mark’s work and craftsmanship is second to none, and I would gladly do business with him for upcoming rebinds. He is amazingly skilled and amazingly helpful in giving options for choices in rebind. I’m extremely thankful to have had this rebound by him, and even more thankful to know him. A true artist and gentleman, thank you Mark!
Gorgeous. I think I want one like this. It strikes me as classic old style but yet stylish with custom endpages. Love it.
